Guidance
A peaceful place to begin.
Our generation of parents have been given an incredible gift: knowledge. Modern day advancements in Neuroscience and Child Development align to show us the actual research on the effects of our parenting styles and choices. We now have information and tangible guidance on HOW to raise independent, respectful, emotionally
intelligent and resilient humans. We focus on the whole child approach, balancing to ensure that our little ones are healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
From birth to age 3 a child's brain is growing at incredible rates! It doubles in size in the first year, and by age three it has reached 80 percent of its adult volume. Early brain development has a lasting impact on a child’s ability to learn and succeed in school and life. The quality of a child’s life experiences in the first few years of life – positive or negative – helps shape how their brain develops.
Support
How do we support a growing mind?
Education from the start. Maria Montessori paved the way for us to support and guide our children in independence and organic learning moments. Through close observation, a thoughtfully curated environment, and the love and care of adults who believe in them, a child blossoms into who they are truly meant to be.
Our children's relationships with the adults in their life are the MOST important influences on their brain development. Loving relationships with responsive, dependable adults are essential to a child’s healthy development, in every area of development. When we truly see the child for who they are and respect their individual journey, entirely separate from our own, they begin to reveal to us who they really are.
By parenting the child we actually have, focusing on age-appropriate expectations, and modeling the behavior and respect we hope to see in them, we are on the course to a beautifully and peacefully aligned parenting story.
Parenting
A positive, respectful and mindful approach.
Positive Discipline is based on an encouragement model. An encouragement model asks, " What is the purpose of this behavior, and how can we use encouragement to change the purpose?"
The purpose of misbehavior is almost always a mistaken way to find belonging and significance. When children feel discouraged about belonging and significance, the find mistaken ways(misbehavior) to seek belonging.
Positive Discipline teaches adults how to respond to the belief below the surface of the behavior to invite change through connection, encouragement, and capability skills that invites children to seek belonging through socially acceptable ways.
